| Telangana shadow on Inter exams as TRS firm on ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ Posted: 04 Mar 2011 12:17 AM PST Telangana shadow on Inter exams as TRS firm on ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ HYDERABAD: The academic future of thousands of students in the Telangana region appearing for their board examinations is at stake following the determination of the Telangana JAC and TRS to go ahead with the ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ programme on March 10 when about 10 lakh people from the region will descend on Hyderabad and paralyse the state capital for a day. The Intermediate exams are scheduled to begin on March 7, and English paper II is slated for March 10, the day of the ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ march. Apart from these students, scores of others would be appearing for the CBSE and ICSE Class X board exams that began on March one. Addressing the media on Wednesday, TRS leader and Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao said: “There is no question of postponing the ‘Chalo Hyderabad’. When the Inter exams in the previous years were held in the third week of March, why are they being held in the first week this time. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should intervene immediately and reschedule the exams,” he said. However, school managements are of the view that it would be easier for the pro-Telangana parties to postpone their march than rescheduling a series of exams being conducted by different boards. In all, there are nearly 9 lakh students appearing for the Inter exams from the T region. The CBSE exams are being held in 100 schools and the ICSE exams in 40 in the region. BOARD OF INTERMEDIATE (BIE) HELP LINE NUMBERS: HYDERABAD: Intermediate students will not get any additional sheet apart from the twenty-four page booklet and they have to write all their answers in those sheets only. In Hyderabad region the exam will be conducted in 156 centres and about 1.10 lakh students are taking the test, according to Regional Inspection Officer, Hyderabad region. Students facing any problems in the twin cities with regard to examination can contact the helpline centres on 040-23236433 and 23641530. Source : TOI & The Hindu |
