| Hyderabad students fare well in CBSE Class XII exams. Posted: 24 May 2011 07:24 PM PDT Hyderabad students fare well in CBSE Class XII exams. HYDERABAD: City students have fared well in CBSE Class XII examinations, the results of which were released on Monday. This year several students got high percentages in science and commerce streams with many even scoring 98%. Some of the top scorers from the city include Anirudh Ravichandran, a student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Sainikpuri who scored 97% in science stream and Rahul Agarwal from Chinmaya Vidyalaya who scored 97.8%. J Y N Bharadwaj from Chinmaya Vidyalaya scored 95% and Rahul Nori from Obul Reddy School, Jubilee Hills secured 94.8%. Most city toppers said that they appeared for competitive examinations including IIT-JEE, AIEEE, Eamcet and B-School entrances and are waiting for the results. Confident after their good performance in the national board examinations, the students said they have an edge over their counterparts from other boards in clearing the entrance tests. “Even though I was advised by many to take admission in junior colleges that give coaching for IIT-JEE and other competitive examinations, I opted for CBSE and classroom learning,” Ravichandran said. He added that he did not go for tuition as he was confident that he could clear competitive examinations even otherwise. Some students who appeared for both engineering and medical streams said that studying in CBSE schools gave them choice in careers. “In CBSE you can choose Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology which open doors to both national and state-level medical and engineering entrance tests. Now even the national level pre-medical test has adopted CBSE as its official syllabus,” said C Sameksha Reddy from Chinmaya Vidyalaya who scored 91%. Rahul Agarwal who scored 97.8% in English said CBSE’s emphasis on language skills would help him gain in job market. His dream is to make it to IIM. The overall performance of the Chennai region, in which Andhra Pradesh falls, has been better than the previous years, officials from CBSE board said. As per a media release issued by Chennai regional office of CBSE, the pass percentage of the region (91.32) is highest in the country. A total of 7.7 lakh students from the country appeared for the examination. The pass percentage across the country was 81.71, which is higher than the previous year’s performance by 1.84%.
